Winter 2016 Adult : Intermediate 1

Adult : Intermediate 1

Students should know the following in order to advance to the next level:
1 lap Freestyle swimming and breathing properly
1 lap Backstroke swim
1 lap breaststroke swim
Treading water for 30 seconds

Start of the program: February 15, 2016

Winter 2016 Adult 1: Beginner 1

Adult Beginner 1 Goals: (Shallow well)

Students should know the following in order to advance to the next level:
Must swim freestyle 4 laps across length of the well.
Must freestyle kick 4 laps across length of the well

Must backstroke kick 4 laps across length of the well

Basic Water Skills: In training pool

Children will learn to immerse themselves in the water, to blow bubbles, to float on back and front, and develop flutter kick.

Winter 2016 Level 2

Registration closes in 4 days

Basic Water Skills: In training pool

Students should be comfortable blowing bubbles underwater and immersing their whole head. Students should understand the basics of kicking

Winter 2016 Level 3

Stroke Discovery II: In shallow well

Level Requirements: Students should know how to float, how to do freestyle arms and legs, how to kick on their backs

Level Goals:
Learn proper freestyle breathing, backstroke kick without a board, backstroke swimming, treading water, and proper streamlining technique.

Start of the program: February 15, 2016
End of the program: April 10, 2016

Winter 2016 Level 4

Registration closes in 4 days

Intermediate I: In shallow well and main pool

Level Requirements: Students should know how to swim freestyle with proper breathing, swim backstroke, tread water for 10-20 seconds, and demonstrate streamlining technique

Level Goals:
Master freestyle rotation and side-breathing, proper backstroke rotation, basic diving, treading water for 1 minute


Start of the program: February 15, 2016
End of the program: April 10, 2016

Winter 2016 Level 5

Registration closes in 4 days

Intermediate II: In main pool

Level Requirements: Students should be able to do 25 yards freestyle with proper breathing and rotation, 25 yards backstroke, demonstrate a rudimentary dive, and tread water for 1 minute

Level Goals:
Build freestyle and backstroke strength and develop better technique through drills, learn to execute a proper dive, learn breaststroke.

Start of the program: February 15, 2016
End of the program: April 10, 2016

Winter 2016 Level 6

Registration closes in 4 days

Advanced I: In main pool

Level Requirements: Students should be able to do 50 yards freestyle with proper breathing and rotation, 50 yards backstroke, 25 yards breaststroke, and perform a dive

Level Goals:
Perfect freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke, learn to do both flip turns and open turns.

End of the program: April 10, 2016

Winter 2016 Level 7

Registration closes in 4 days

Advanced II: In main pool

Level Requirements: Students should be able to do 75 yards freestyle with proper breathing and rotation, 75 yards backstroke, 50 yards breaststroke, and demonstrate a flip turn and open turn

Level Goals:
Perfect freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke, integrate flip turns and open turns into lap-swimming, learn butterfly.

Welcome to the Brooklyn Sports Club's

2016 Mid-Winter Swim Program 

  

 

  What's New?

Mid-Winter is a 8 weeks swim session. There will be NO break-week and NO make- ups. Classes will meet once a week for 8 weeks. 

Start date of the program:  February 15th 

End date of the program:  April 10th 

Online Registration Begins:  February 3rd @2pm

Registration Ends: February 10th

Please come on the day and time you have selected. 

There will be NO Aqua tots for the Winter. 

Our Youth program, for ages five through eleven, has seven levels. Please make the best estimate of your child's abilities before registering. During the first week of classes, the instructors will determine if students need to be moved up or down a level—we do our best to accommodate everyone. Classes consist of 45 minutes of instruction.

Our Teen program, for ages twelve through seventeen, has six levels—Beginner 1, Beg. 2, Beg. 3. Inter. 1, Inter. 2 and Teen Advanced Classes consist of 45 minutes of instruction. 

Our Adult program, for ages eighteen and up, has six levels—Beginner 1, Beg. 2, Beg. 3. Inter. 1, Inter. 2 and Advanced.  Classes consist of 45 minutes of instruction.
